Course Description and Objectives:  وصف الصف والأهداف :

Welcome to Arabic 121. This course is designed to introduce you to the Modern Standard Arabic language (MSA) used throughout the Arab World. In addition, each Arab country has its own dialect, which is derived from the MSA. This course is geared toward writing Arabic Alphabet, pronunciation, and basic grammar using: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This involves intensive classroom interaction and out-of-class assignments.

The course objective is to develop fluency in pronunciation and writing of Arabic letters, acquire basic language structure and vocabulary, and learn about the culture and diversity in the Arab-speaking World.

Learning Arabic is challenging but a highly rewarded process that requires patience and practice. We are all going to make this class a fun experience.

 

Course Requirements: متطلبات الصف

● Attending and participating in all class activities are very important.

● Doing homework assignments is essential to keep up with new materials and    

   assignments throughout the quarter.

Prepare for the upcoming lesson. This is a daily assignment.

● You are expected to do all exercises / drills in your Text Book.

● Please submit your assignments in order and stapled together.  

 

Attendance: الحضور :

Attendance is mandatory and it is a part of grade. Three absences are allowed without consequences to your grade. Use these absences wisely as illness, and unexpected emergencies do arise. Partial attendance (being late or leaving early) may count as an absence.
