ALDAC Chemical Dependency Awareness Day Tuesday May 14th

From healthcare to our legislative halls in Olympia the topic of drug use and chemical dependency is an ever-present societal reality. Please join the ALDAC students, faculty and our friends as we explore this multifaceted issue on campus.

Events will include:

Lecture

The Neurological Aspects of Chemical Dependency – 10:30am – 11:20am in N201.

Join the ALDAC faculty for a 50-minute presentation regarding the neurological aspects of chemical dependency. Participants will explore the basic communication process of the central nervous system and the physiological adaptation that occurs in response to psychoactive chemicals entering the brain, especially in the reward pleasure center. We will touch on the concepts of Neuroplasticity, Neurogenesis and Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor as they apply to this physiological process.

This campus presentation is open to full classes, individual students and interested staff.

Attendance verification will be made available.
