Faculty Biographies

Paula Frederick MAed, LMHP, CDP
Paula currently works as the program manager and clinical supervisor for Friends of Youth’s chemical dependency outpatient program. She has worked in the field of addiction and co-occurring disorder treatment for over twenty years. Paula joined the faculty of alcohol/drug counseling program in 2001 and currently teaches the psychopathology in addiction counseling, understanding addiction, and group process in addiction treatment courses. In addition, she teaches several workshops on eating disorders, domestic violence and clinical supervision.

Larry Lombard BA,BS Pharm,CDP, CDCC II, NCACII
Larry currently works as a case manager for Hazelden-Springbrook in Beaverton, OR and has been providing addiction treatment services for over twenty years. Larry has been teaching the relapse prevention course and the history of addiction workshop at BCC since 1995.

 

Sharon Stephenson BSW, CDP
Sharon has worked for a number of treatment agencies since 1991 and she currently works as the program director for Associated Behavioral Health. She joined the faculty of the alcohol/drug counseling program in 2001 and facilitates the introduction to counseling and helping professions, and introduction to family systems classes. In addition, she also teaches a semnar on implementing current best practices into the DUI assessment process

Liz Wilhelm MS, SAPS
Liz currently works as the director of the Washington State Alcohol Drug Clearinghouse. The clearinghouse is a repository of printed information, posters and videos related to prevention, intervention and treatment of substance abuse issues. Liz is also a member of Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist certification board. She is currently working on developing curriculum designed to teach students the education competencies required for certification as a substance abuse prevention specialist. Look for these classes in the workshop and seminar part of the BCC class schedule or ALDAC quarterly brochure.

Paul R. Weatherly MA, CDP
Paul currently works as the director of the alcohol/drug counseling program at BCC. He has taught classes and workshops in the program since 1995. He currently works part-time for Lakeside Milam Recovery Centers as an internal clinical supervisor/auditor. He facilitates classes in ethics and professionalism, chemical dependency and the law, case management and individual counseling techniques. In addition, he has taught workshops and seminars on spirituality and recovery, twelve step programs, and marijuana research updates.
