Welcome to the Alcohol/Drug Counseling Program at Bellevue Community College (BCC). Our program provides the knowledge, skills, attitudes and training required for counseling in the field of chemical dependency intervention, prevention and treatment. Courses are designed for the individual who:

  • Is completing state requirements to become a Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) outlined in the RCW 18.205 and WAC 388-805.
  • Is completing requirements to become a Probation Assessment Officer (PAO) as outlined in the WAC 388-805-220.
  • Is completing the requirements to become a certified Alcohol/Drug Information School (ADIS) Instructor

  • Is interested in learning more about addiction and how it affects individuals, families and society.

New students seeking certification as CDP or PAO must meet with Paul Weatherly, the Alcohol/Drug Counseling Program Director, prior to registration for classes and commencement of their studies. Students typically have many questions about the field of chemical dependency treatment, job availability, applicable prior learning and, sometimes, personal recovery issues that are best addressed in individual meetings. These appointments may be conducted by telephone; however, meetings in person are usually more productive. This first point of contact is crucial in establishing a coordinated and informed entrance into the program as well as learning the importance of how to effectively use supervision in the field of addiction treatment The Alcohol/Drug Studies program office in R130 is open Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM; however, the Program Director has flexible office hours to accommodate the needs of working students and other individuals who are unavailable to meet during normal office hours. Interested individuals need to call (425) 564-2012 to set up an appointment.

Questions about the program may be sent by e-mail to pweather@bcc.ctc.edu
