Course Information
Course Outcomes
After completing this class,
students should be able to:
How Outcomes will be met
This class uses a variety of
tools to present material and enhance your ability to learn. These tools range
from papers on the plays read to play reviews, videotapes, lectures, play
readings, the final project and of upmost importance: your participation
on the "DB" or Discussion Board. From the first day, the
presentation of material (and your understanding of it) will rely on what has
been covered before. In order to do well in this class you must keep up on the
reading and please do not hesitate to let me know when there is something in
the reading or my notes that is confusing or which raises questions. This is
art and thus your emotional reactions are as important as your intellectual
ones.
You will receive all
assignments and due dates on the Canves Calendar
Grading
All assignments are due on the
date assigned.
It is REALLY easy to get an A in
this class if you just "show up" and do the work. There is a lot of
reading and creative assignments. This isn't math - but you do need to support
your opinions. In most papers if you use MLA properly you have just earned 10%
of your grade. If you follow the instructions and include everything the
assignment sheet asks you to do - that is usually 30-40% of your grade. So -
Even if you are short on time - just do it! See below for the grading breakdown
and scale.
Late assignments will be
graded down and accepted for one day after the due date. Discussions are open
until 8:00 am the morning after the last reply is due. There is NO WAY to make
up discussion assignments. Also - If you decide to work ahead in the class I
expect that you WILL NOT introduce later material into the current discussions.
Most likely I will not grade your paper's earlier if you turn them in earlier
unless I have extra time - then of course I will try. This class follows the
guidelines found in Bellevue College's "Arts and Humanities
Standards". Please read and become familiar with these
guidelines. They are found on the Arts and Humanities web page.
You may miss a discussion or
maybe two and still obtain a fairly decent grade. However – it is 30% of your
grade. Please pay attention and don’t miss too many. Missing discussions is the
equivalent of missing class on discussion day.
IF you do not hand in ALL
assignments (not including the discussion board) you will NOT receive an A in
the class even if your points reflect a 93%.
IF you do not hand in your final you may NOT receive an A. Your grade will not
reflect 93% at this point because of the percentage assigned to the final.

Instructor’s Expectation
2. I am online Sunday –
Thursday. I expect that you will look over the assignment rubric at the
beginning o the week. If you have questions I expect you to ask KNOWING I may
not be online at the same time as you and with the expectation that
3. I will do my best to answer
emails within 24 hours SUNDAY - THURSDAY
4. I will most like NOT answer
emails Thursday after 2:00pm, Friday and Saturday. PLEASE plan accordingly. Example: If you ask a question 3
hours before an assignment is due – it is NOT reasonable to assume you will get
an answer (as most assignments are due at midnight). You may not turn in your
assignment late and receive full credit because you waited until then to read
the rubric.
5. If you decide to work ahead
in the class I expect that you WILL NOT introduce later material into the
current discussions. Most likely I will not grade your paper's earlier if you
turn them in earlier unless I have extra time - then of course I will try. T
6. Have fun! (this is obviously not
something I can require – but I hope you try to have fun with this subject)
