Bellevue Women’s Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season

The Bellevue College women’s soccer team wrapped up regular season play with matches on Weds., November 3 at home against Peninsula, then on the road against Highline on Sat., November 6.

Against Peninsula, it was a tightly contested match from start to finish. The Pirates took the lead midway through the first half, then added a second goal in the 40th minute to make it 0-2 just before halftime. The Bulldogs made adjustments during the break, and Bellevue’s defensive efforts showed up during the second half when freshman Treva Leroy scored in the 65th and 68th minutes. Although it was a great comeback effort by Bellevue, they had to settle for a 2-2 tie at game’s end.

The Bulldogs faired much better in the match against Highline on Saturday, taking the win by a score of 3-0, playing at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila. Bellevue’s Jessie Oliver scored the first goal of the match in the 34th minute providing a 1-0 lead going into halftime. After the break, Abigail Stuart scored for the Bulldogs in the 51st minute to pad the lead, assisted by Oliver. Captain Jamie Lindstrom capped off Bellevue’s scoring in the 88th minute, leading to the 3-0 victory. Keeper Brianna Jackson played tremendously as she was in goal for the shutout.

Having cinched the West Region Championship and a bye for first round playoffs, Bellevue awaits the winner of the Chemeketa- Edmonds match-up to determine the Bulldog’s opponent for Sat., November 13 at home. Bellevue women will play at Sammamish High School, 100 140th Ave. SE, Bellevue, match starting at 1 PM.
