Bellevue College baseball’s veteran status appears to be evident as nine players were selected by the coaches in the NWAACC North Region to participate in the NWAACC Showcase. The all-day affair featuring the top sophomores from all four regions will be on Saturday September 28 at Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA. Next year’s showcase, in fall of 2014, will be hosted by Bellevue at Courter Field; the first time the showcase will be at a site other than Lower Columbia.

Left-hander Nick Kiel, the top vote getter among all pitchers for the showcase along with fellow returning starters Brandon Mahovlich and Aaron Sandefur will be joined by relief ace Cody Culp, and newcomer Tyson Schmitt giving Bellevue five arms in the showcase. The fourth returning starter, left-hander Alex Hatch, is nursing an injury and will not be available for the showcase. Hitters selected include first baseman Aaron Stroosma, who made the All-NWAACC Tournament Team last May, and infielders Sheldon Stober, Nick Pribble, and Ryan Malone.

Bellevue’s own scout day for both 4-year coaches and pro scouts will be Tuesday September 24th at 2:30 pm at Courter Field.
