Bellevue Pitcher Taken in Major League Baseball Rule V Draft

Bellevue College baseball alum Michael Lee, the winning pitcher for the ’07 NWAACC Champion team, was selected in the AAA phase of the Rule V Draft this week at the Major League Baseball winter meetings in Florida. Lee, who is coming off a strong season in AA ball in the Braves organization, will now likely pitch for the AAA team of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bellevue now has three pitchers in AAA ball on the verge of making big league rosters in Lee, fellow ’07 teammate Blaine Hardy, who was 6-1 for the Detroit Tigers AAA affiliate Toledo last summer, and Evan Meek, whose success as a reliever for Texas Rangers AAA affiliate vaulted him into the starting rotation. Meek is a former Major League All-Star with Pittsburgh who is making a strong comeback after a shoulder injury in 2011.
