Bulldog Men’s Basketball Defeat Skagit Valley and Peninsula to Close Out Regular Season

The Bellevue  College men’s basketball team  won a one-point thriller over Skagit Valley on Wednesday February 19 by a score of 73-72 behind the 26 points of Jalen Ward. The Bulldogs then closed out the regular season this past Sunday February 23 with a 76-65 win over Peninsula. The wins gave Bellevue a share of the North Region title with Whatcom and Skagit Valley, as all three teams tied at 11-3 in league play.

In the win over Skagit Valley, the Bulldogs were up by six at halftime shooting 51% from the field against the Cardinals (32%). In the second half, Bellevue cooled off but were able to hold off Skagit Valley as Austin O’ Keefe continued his steady play throughout the year with 21 points and 10 rebounds to complement Ward’s explosive night.

Against Peninsula, Bellevue had a balanced attack led by O’Keefe (18 points), Anthony McLaughlin (18), Reggie Clinton (11), and Darien Muongvang (10). Both teams played evenly in the second half as the Bulldogs were 48% from the field.

The region co-champ Bulldogs will enter the NWAACC Championships as the #3 seed from the North Region due to tie-breaker procedures and will play the late game at 10:00 pm vs. Big Bend CC in Kennewick ath the NWAACC Championships.
