Bodenhamer Home Run Propels Bellevue to 4-3 Win Over Douglas

Bodenhamer in action
John Bodenhamer had a two-run home run and the game-winning RBI in the win over Douglas.

John Bodenhamer hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning then had the game-winning RBI in the sixth, leading Bellevue to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Douglas. Down 3-0 in the fifth, Bodenhamer’s homer bounced into the roadway fifty feet beyond the fence in right field. Four consecutive singles by Brady Kerr, Kurt Lindemann, and Nick Pribble, and Aaron Stroosma in the sixth allowed Bodenhamer to drive in Lindemann for the game-winner on a fielder’s choice.  Douglas struck early with back-to-back home runs off Jeff Wyner to stake Douglas with a 3-0 lead. Wyner was in relief of Tyson Schmitt, who was lifted after three shutout innings due to pitch count limitations.  Bellevue is now 17-3 and has a one game lead over Edmonds for first place in the North region. The Bulldogs and Edmonds battle this weekend in the final week of regular season play with the league title on the line.  The doubleheader on Saturday May 10 will be here at Courter Field at 1PM while Sunday’s Mother’s Day clash will be hosted by Edmonds at 1PM.
