Bellevue College volleyball got a tough test on Monday but finally defeated Shoreline in five games; 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10. Bellevue labored in the first game as Shoreline stormed back as Bellevue was trying to close out game one before dropping games two and three. Down 2-1, the Bulldogs showed their grit by winning the last two to take the win. Sophomore Kayley Watkins had 22 kills while Danielle Smullin had 40 assists and also 10 digs in the long match. The Bulldogs had a season high of eight aces in the match led by libero Sara Pulaski.  Pulaski kept the Bulldogs back row alive with 34 digs followed by outside hitter Loretta Forrest with 19.

“Shoreline is always a tough place to play at and I was proud of our girls for showing the fight they have in them. It could have been really easy to give up after getting down 2-1 but they showed how much they wanted it and fought back to take the match,” said Coach Lawrence.

Bellevue is now 6-2 in league and 14-10 overall and will host Skagit Valley this Wednesday October 29 at 7:00 PM.
