Katie Newell led BC women’s soccer to NWAC final eight for the first time in years as Bellevue defeated Chemeketa (OR) by a score of 3-1. Bellevue advances to the quarter-finals and will play the North #1 seed, Everett on Saturday November 8 at 12PM at Kasch Park. In the win over Chemeketa, Newell, a sophomore, scored just before the end of the first half before tacking on two more goals. The shutout by Bulldog keeper Maggie Alikpala-Wilson was lost in the final minute as Chemeketa finally got on the board when it was apparent it would be too late. As a preview to the upcoming matchup that is expected to be a great game, Bellevue lost a hard fought battle to Everett 1-0 earlier in the season during league play, as the game was knotted at 0-0 until near the end of regulation.
