Women’s Basketball Takes Third in Bulldog Classic

Bellevue College women’s basketball took third place in their own Bulldog Classic hosted this weekend December 5-7 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The Bulldogs fell out of the championship on Saturday with a 74-58 loss to Umpqua. Mikayla Jones led Bellevue with 22 points and also had four assists. Hunter Hopkins chipped in 12. In the consolation game on Sunday against North Region foe Skagit Valley, Bellevue came out on top 64-51. Jones again led BC with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Shelby Kassuba was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line and added 16 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. After a low scoring first half which had Bellevue leading 22-19 at the break, Bellevue came out strong offensively in the second half outscoring the Cardinals 42-32 to cruise to the win. Bellevue is now 2-3 on the year and will next play in the Everett Classic on Friday December 12. The Bulldogs’ opening round game is a 4PM matchup against Lower Columbia.
