Women’s Basketball Takes Runner-Up at Mount Hood Crossover Tourney

Bellevue College women’s basketball lost 58-52 to Centralia in the championship game of the Mount Hood Crossover Tourney. Up by one point at halftime, the Bulldogs eventually succumbed the lead to Centralia in the second half, shooting only 4-for-28 from the field and 1-for-11 from 3-point range. The 14% shooting efficiency led to only 21 second half points.  Mikayla Jones had 20 points and seven rebounds while Hunter Hopkins had 11 rebounds. Centralia has one of the top records in the NWAC at 9-1. Bellevue fell to 6-5 with the loss.

In earlier round action, Bellevue won their opener on Friday December 19 with a 71-58 win over Lower Columbia. The Bulldogs stormed back after trailing at halftime and put up 41 points in the second half. Three players for BC had balanced attacks in Vivienne McClean (16 points, 10 rebounds), Shelby Kassuba (18 points, seven rebounds, six steals), and Eboney Jackson (19 points, seven rebounds). On Saturday December 20, Bellevue topped Walla Walla 77-74 in the semi-final game. The close matchup lasted all 40 minutes as Bellevue was able to hold on for the win. Jones was red hot from the perimeter scoring 28 points. Jackson added 16 points and seven rebounds while Hopkins added 15 points and led BC with eight assists.

The Bulldogs’ next game is December 28 at the Skagit Tournament at 3PM vs. Grays Harbor.
