Bellevue College Men’s Basketball Takes League Opener Over Shoreline

Bellevue College men’s basketball won their league opener tonight over the visiting Shoreline Dolphins 79-67. The Bulldogs raced out to a 14-point lead in the first half and kept Shoreline in check for the second half. The Bulldogs maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half with high percentage free throw shooting, going 20-for-28 at the line in the second half, making 71%.  Dominic Smith led BC with perfect shooting going 7-for-7 from the field including 6-for-6 from three point range for 20 points. Smith also added five rebounds in the unbelievable shooting night. The backcourt tandem of Jalen Ward and Dominique Jordan also scored 14 and 15 points respectively. Jordan led the team in rebounds also with seven along with Anthony McLaughlin, who returned after a long absence due to injury. McLaughlin was impressive in his limited time with nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists while playing only 20 minutes. Bellevue is now 1-0 in league / 14-2 overall. Bellevue not only maintains the top record in the NWAC, but also is number one in both the NWAC Coaches’ Poll and the informal Joward Power Rankings Poll. The Bulldogs travel to Bremerton this Wednesday January 14 for a 7PM matchup against Olympic.
