In a continuation of beating top teams throughout the entire NWAC, Bellevue’s men’s basketball showed why they are the number one ranked team in the NWAC after topping yet another frontline squad as they defeated visiting Skagit Valley by a score of 85-79. The win was the result of a balanced effort by sophomores Anthony McLaughlin, Jalen Ward, and Dominique Jordan. McLaughlin, who recently returned after a long layoff due to injury, was as polished as ever scoring 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting. He was also 5-for-6 from the line and led BC with 12 rebounds three steals. Also netting 18 points was Jordan and Brian Zehr. While Ward did not have the hot hand from the field, shooting only 3-for-12, he capitalized at the free throw line, sinking big free throws when they were needed with 7-for-7 shooting. Jordan dished out five assists also. Zehr had the hot hand all night shooting 7-for-8 from the field, including a perfect 2-for-2 from three point range and from the free throw line. This Wednesday January 21, Bellevue takes on perhaps the only other team as hot as the Bulldogs as they host Edmonds in a showdown for the North Region lead at 7PM. Edmonds is on an 8-game win streak and are 15-3 overall. BC moves to 16-2 and has the top record in the NWAC.
