In a North Region matchup that pitted the two undefeated teams in league play, Bellevue’s women came up big with a 67-62 road win at Peninsula. Freshman Shelby Kassuba led the Bulldogs with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She also tallied two steals and three assists in the effort. Tied at 25 apiece at halftime, the Bulldogs won the game at the free throw line, making 82% shooting 14-for-17 while Peninsula couldn’t capitalize at the free throw line making only 7 of 15. Complementing Kassuba’s efforts were Hunter Hopkins, who had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Mikayla Jones who made plays everywhere, scoring 17 points, had six rebounds, and led Bellevue with five steals and four assists. Jones and Kassuba, the workhorses of last night’s win, played every minute in the game without a break.  Bellevue is now 5-0 in league play and 14-6 overall. The women battle visiting Whatcom at home this Wednesday January 28 with a scheduled tipoff of 5PM.
