Softball Splits With Southwest Oregon

After deciding to cancel the Inter-Region Tournament that was to be held in Portland, OR due to projected rain, the Bellevue College Bulldog softball team hosted Southwest Oregon CC at a neutral site; Edmonds CC on Saturday March 21. Southwest Oregon was scheduled to drive up for the inter-region tourney anyway, and decided to travel another four hours north for the two games against the Bulldogs.  Southwest Oregon won the opener 6-5. Tessani Dixon led BC’s offense with a home run and 2 RBI’s. Relief pitcher Ciera Lockwood blanked the Lakers over the final two innings of work. The Lakers came from two down to win as they scored three in the sixth inning for the win. Taylor Turner and Rachel Delamare each had two hits for the Bulldogs.

In the nightcap, played under the lights, Bellevue came back to win 9-1. The Bulldogs were in control the entire game as they capitalized on walks issued by Laker pitchers. Lockwood, coming off relief in game one, tossed a complete game scattering six hits in the win in the circle. Dixon clubbed her sixth home run of the year while freshman Emma Bedsworth was a multiple threat offensively, with two hits, two walks, and two runs scored. Gabrielle Vidallon was 2-for-2 with 3 RBI’s.  Bellevue is now 8-4 on the year and hosts Chemeketa in their home opener this Thursday March 26 at 2PM. The doubleheader will be Bellevue’s final non-league affair before league play begins two days later on Saturday March 28 with a home bout against Skagit Valley.
