Bellevue College softball lost two heartbreakers in similar fashion on Thursday, April 2, losing both ends of a doubleheader by one run in the final inning in both contests.  The Bulldogs lost 7-6 in game one then lost 5-4 in the nightcap.

After scratching back from an early 3-0 deficit after the first inning, Bellevue took the lead in the top of the seventh scoring two runs as Erin Scott doubled. After the first run scored on an error, Brooke Bonsen later scored on a fly to give Bellevue the lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Everett took home the win on an error, double and single to score two quick runs to end the game.

Emma Bedsworth had two hits and three RBI’s to lead Bellevue.

In the second game, Bellevue battled back from a 4-1 deficit, scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to tie the game. Everett would battle back for the game winner in the bottom of the frame. Alex Kubeska, who transferred from Bellevue to play at Everett this year, did the damage, getting a leadoff single in the seventh which proved to be the game winner. Kubeska also had two hits to lead the Trojans. Ali Roselli was a perfect 3-for-3 to lead Bellevue.

Bellevue is now 3-3 in league and 11-9 overall. The Bulldogs host Edmonds this Saturday, April 4, at 1:00 p.m.
