Bellevue College Baseball lost three of four games over the weekend vs. Everett. On Saturday, April 18, the Bulldogs lost 2-0 in a pitchers’ duel between Everett’s Michael Wood, who took a no-hitter into the final inning, against Bellevue’s Marty Luckenbach, who threw a no-hitter in long relief after entering in the second inning for Bellevue.  Trai Patrick broke up Wood’s no-no attempt with a single in the seventh inning for Bellevue. In game two, Everett jumped out to a 6-0 lead as Bellevue starter Cody Anderson was chased after only recording one out in the first inning. Bellevue relief pitching struggled as well, as collectively the staff gave up 10 hits, 12 walks, and two hit batters in the 13-4 loss. Jordan LaFave had three hits in the game for Bellevue.

On Sunday April 19, BC received solid starting pitching outings from sophomores Zander Clouse and Corbin Powers, but came away with only one win as they split the doubleheader by scores of 7-2 and 4-1.  In game one, Clouse went the distance as the right-hander seized control of the game early and kept momentum throughout the entire game. Clouse struck out eight and walked only one in the game, and shutout Everett until the fifth inning which gave Bellevue’s offense a chance to get things going. Dylan Vchulek was 3-for-3 and had two RBI’s to lead Bellevue. Bellevue jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second inning thanks to two key Everett errors in addition to a single by Patrick and a double by Alex Check.

The Bulldogs fall to 7-9 in league and 20-14 overall. Bellevue has a doubleheader against Olympic that has been moved up to Thursday, April 23 due to projected rain over the weekend and early next week. The Thursday doubleheader will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, WA.  Bellevue will then host Olympic Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m.
