Dominating BC Tennis Adds More Honors; Podgornny and Al-Ali Named Baden Players of the Year

Bellevue College tennis, fresh off their sweeps on both the men and women’s side of NWAC tennis at the recent conference championships, had several individual honors as well, as announced at the NWAC office. Coach Jason Chapman was named co-Coach of the Year while men’s number one singles player Valentin Podgornyy and women’s number one Nadean Al-Ali were named the Baden Players of the Year. The award is the top honor for individual athletes in their respective sport. Podgornyy took home the men’s title in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 while Al-Ali also won in straight sets on the women’s side 6-3, 6-3.

Bellevue also had Shinya Maruyama and Sam Bayna earn first team all-NWAC honors while Josh Rasmus, Adam Owen, and Sasha Savgira earned second team honors.

On the women’s side, Jessie Han and Anna Lefebvre were named to the first team with Kristy Braunston, Angela Moniaga, and Sabrina Norton were named second team. Here is a list of the all-NWAC teams.
