Bellevue College softball finished with one win and two losses at the recent NWAC Championships in Portland, OR. On Friday, May 15, Bellevue opened up the tourney with a 15-2 win over Centralia. The Bulldogs put up nine quick runs in the first two innings to cruise to victory. Erin Scott went 3-for-4 with a home run while Ali Roselli hit a grand slam. The homer was Roselli’s eighth of the year. Tessani Dixon clubbed her nineteenth homer of the year also.

Later that day, Bellevue trailed early to Clackamas, who entered the tourney as one of the favorites, and rallied back but fell short in an 8-6 loss. Down 8-1, the Bulldogs scratched back into contention with five runs in the final two innings. In the seventh and final inning, RBI singles by Roselli and Brooke Bonsen followed by a 2-RBI double by Katie Jackson got Bellevue within striking distance. Bellevue’s top of the lineup, Taylor Turner, Nikki Tiffany, and Rachel Delamare did most of the damage as each got two hits apiece.

On Saturday, May 16, Bellevue could not get any breaks, falling to Columbia Basin in an elimination game in the loser’s bracket. Although Bellevue outhit Columbia Basin 10-6, Bellevue could only get one run to cross the entire game; in the first inning on a double by freshman Cassidy Mast. Bonsen was the hard luck loser in the circle for Bellevue, scattering only six hits in her complete game effort.

Bellevue finished the year 31-14 and in second place in the North Region.
