Men’s Soccer Wins First League Game Over Pierce

Bellevue College men’s soccer is coming out tough under new Head Coach David O’Neil, handing him his first league win as head coach and a 3-1-1 record overall to start the season.

In the preseason, over the August 29-30 weekend, Bellevue won two straight over SW Oregon (1-0) and Chemeketa (2-1). On September 5, they tied a tough Shoreline team 1-1 followed by their only loss on Wednesday September 9 to Peninsula College 3-1.

Saturday the Bulldogs hosted Pierce College and won their first league game 2-1. Bellevue scored first on a goal by Jae Cho at 45 minutes, followed by another at the 61st minute by Chris Cole; his second of the season. A hard playing midfield and improved defense, led by goalkeeper Abdullahi Abdullahi, kept Pierce off the score board until the 82nd minute for the final outcome.

Bellevue hosts defending NWAC champion Highline College this Wednesday September 16 at Starfire Complex in Tukwila at 3:00 p.m. The next home match is Saturday September 19 against Tacoma at Bellevue College at 2:15 p.m.
