Bellevue College women’s basketball stayed on pace for the North Region title with a 73-54 win over visiting Everett tonight. The Bulldogs, entering the game in a three-way tie for first place, came out early and took control with an 18-13 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Mikayla Jones had the biggest all-around night for the ‘dogs with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and 7 assists. She was also 6-for-12 from the field, recovering her touch after a few off nights last week in league play. Shelby Kassuba, Bellevue’s other sophomore threat, had 19 points and 7 rebounds. Freshman Montana Hagstrom had 14 points as all of her field goal attempts were bombs from three-point land, making 4-of-9. Her long range shooting was key, as BC outscored Everett 27-15 from three-point territory.

Bellevue is now 6-1 in league and still tied for first place along with Skagit Valley and Peninsula who both earned wins tonight. Bellevue hosts Shoreline as they begin the second round of games against their North Region opponents on February 6 at 4:00 p.m.
