After starting the season in league play 0-6, many teams would throw in the towel. Bellevue’s men’s basketball team has done the opposite, as they have reeled off three wins in a row and are now only one game out of a playoff berth after topping Olympic 80-72 in front of a hostile Olympic crowd.

Down by two at halftime, BC put up 44 points with 56% shooting in the second half in a comeback win that was reminiscent of their last two pre-season wins over Yakima Valley and Highline back in early January. Foul trouble also aided BC as they drained 12-of-16 from the free throw line as compared to Olympic’s 3-of-4.

Jordain Muir-Kueng led the ‘dogs with 20 points. Brian Zehr, the team’s lone returner from last year’s squad, was believed at one time to be lost for the season to injury but has bounced back and contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds. Zehr’s return has made a huge impact on the team’s turnaround. The timing couldn’t be better as Bellevue is now in their second round of league games attempting to play catch up; and are doing so with success and they are now 3-6 in league and 12-12 overall. With the third place team at 4-5, BC is now just one game out of third place. The top four earn berths to the playoffs in early March.

Bellevue’s next game is at home on Saturday February 13 against Skagit Valley at 6:00 p.m. The game will be televised on cable channel 28.
