Bellevue College baseball continued their hot pre-season by taking three games of the four game set this weekend against Clark College. On Friday March 18, Bellevue hosted the Penguins for a doubleheader at Courter Field, winning the first game in the bottom of the ninth 10-9 before dropping the nightcap 7-3. In game one, the Bulldogs scored in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings for the win. After allowing Clark to tie up the game in the top of the ninth, Jordan LaFave scored on a passed ball for the win. LaFave and Sean Clancy each had three hits to lead BC. In the nightcap, one big hit for Clark essentially won it as pinch hitter Hunter Huddleston delivered a two-strike bases-loaded double to clear the bases as Clark erupted for four runs in the top of the 6th inning. Clancy was Bellevue’s offensive threat in game two also, as he walked twice and had another two hits and two RBI’s.

On Saturday March 19, the Bulldogs traveled to Vancouver to complete the series with a sweep, winning in convincing fashion 7-1 and 7-2. In the opener, Cody Anderson struck out 8 and allowed only 4 Clark hits through 6 innings of work for the win. Offensively, the Bulldogs blew it open with 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning on RBI hits by Joe Wainhouse and Zach Usselman, who were then driven in with the big blow of the day; a three-run home run by Tino Peleti. In game two, Bulldog pitcher Elijah Hill carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning before a hit and two Bellevue errors allowed Clark to get on the scoreboard. Lawyer Braun had three hits to lead BC.

The Bulldogs are now 12-2 on the year and will travel to Tacoma for the Tacoma-Pierce Invitational. Games are tentatively scheduled for Friday March 25 and Saturday March 26. Weather and artificial turf field availability may force the games onto Easter Sunday March 27. Any changes that should arise will be posted on he website this weekend. Bellevue is scheduled to play Tacoma at Tacoma CC on Friday at 10:00 a.m. before playing Chemeketa (OR) at 1:00 p.m.
