Defense and pitching miscues allowed rival Edmonds CC to win 3 of 4 games this weekend over Bellevue. The Bulldogs lost 2-1 and 12-1 on Saturday April 30 before splitting on Sunday May 1 by scores of 10-3 and 7-0.

On Saturday at home, Bellevue’s defense committed 5 errors in the 2-1 loss. After tying it up in the sixth, the ‘dogs gave it back in the 8th inning on two errors and a wild pitch.   In game two, another 4 errors along with 12 walks and 14 hits issued by Bellevue pitchers handed Edmonds the easy win that was called after 8 innings due to the mercy rule.

On Sunday, Bellevue’s Joe Wainhouse doubled home Evan Johnson and Austin Pinorini and later scored on a Tino Peleti single to cut the Edmonds lead to 4-3 in the sixth. But in the bottom of the inning, a two-out error followed by two key hits put Bellevue back in a hole they could not recover from. In the nightcap, Dominic DeMiero was outstanding again for the second week in a row going eight innings without allowing a run. Danny Torlai finished the game with three quick outs to end the game. Wainhouse had three hits in the nightcap to go along with his three hits in game one for six on the day. He hit his eleventh homer of the year as well. Pinorini had three hits as well.

The Bulldogs are now tied with Edmonds in second place in the North behind Skagit Valley (14-6). Although Skagit Valley has a higher win percentage, Bellevue and Edmonds both 11-5 have one fewer loss than Skagit Valley. Bellevue hosts Shoreline this Saturday May 7 at 1:00 p.m.
