Bellevue College baseball finished tied for fifth at the NWAC Championships this weekend, hosted by Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA. The Bulldogs lost 9-0 on opening night to the host Lower Columbia before topping Mount Hood on Friday May 27 5-4 in a wild finish. The ‘dogs jumped ahead early then allowed Mount Hood to tie the game at 4-4 on a wild pitch in the final inning. Bellevue then won the game, ironically, with the aid of a wild pitch on Mount Hood’s end, then on an error to score Jordan LaFave. Cody Anderson, a WSU commit, went the distance striking out 10. On Saturday May 28, Bellevue lost a see-saw battle with North Region rival Everett, losing 8-6. Bellevue jumped out 3-0 in the first but lost momentum by giving up four runs in the bottom of the inning. Bellevue would fight back repeatedly but the big first inning Everett had after jumping ahead 3-0 proved to be the significant difference maker in the final result.

The Bulldogs end the season with a 36-18 record. They are assured finishing first or second in the entire NWAC in wins. It is also the second most wins ever in a season for Bellevue baseball behind the 2007 squad (37-11) and 2011 team (37-14).  Joe Wainhouse and Dominic DeMiero were named first team All-NWAC while freshman catcher Austin Pinorini was named second team All-NWAC.
