Women’s Basketball Win Over Whatcom

After jumping out early to a 22-13 lead after one quarter, the Bellevue College women’s basketball team cruised to an 80-70 win over visiting Whatcom yesterday at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Sophomore Erin Hamilton, who has been one of Bellevue’s most consistent and key figures for the past two seasons, played her final game on her home court with a bang, by scoring 29 points. She was 13-for-21 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. She also had 5 rebounds and led BC with 4 blocked shots and 3 steals. Molly Dixon chipped in 14 points while Brenda Akoto had 12 points and led the team with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

The ‘dogs were in control the entire game as Bellevue played one of it’s cleanest games all season, committing only 6 turnovers as compared to 19 for Whatcom.

Bellevue (9-4 league / 17-9 overall) plays their final game this Wednesday March 1 at Olympic. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Bellevue has locked a playoff spot and is playing for a position ranging from second to fourth depending on Wednesday’s game outcomes.
