Bellevue College sophomore women’s basketball player Erin Hamilton was named NWAC North Region Defensive Player of the Year as voted by the coaches of the North Region on Sunday afternoon. Hamilton was also named to the first team All-North Region Squad. She was the lone Bellevue representative on the first team. Freshmen Brenda Akoto and Molly Dixon were named to the second team.

Hamilton, who was a mainstay in the lineup for last year’s club, picked up where she left off and had another stellar year, with her all-around play improving as league play began. Her momentum carried into her final home game in which she put up 29 points on February 26 vs. Whatcom on Sophomore Night. She also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game this season. Hamilton leads Bellevue into the NWAC Championships where they open up play against Centralia on Saturday March 11 at Everett CC.
