Over a three-day period due to rain, Bellevue College finished 3-1 in a combined series against Wenatchee Valley College and Tacoma CC. On Saturday March 18, Bellevue defeated Wenatchee 5-3 in a come-from-behind win. Due in part to Wenatchee errors, BC managed to overcome a 3-0 deficit with a two-run sixth inning. The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the eighth. Tyler Williams threw four innings of shutout relief for starter Josh Thompson for the win.

On Sunday March 19, Bellevue won two games, winning 4-0 behind Elijah Hill’s one-hit, 10 strikeout performance over Wenatchee Valley and a 12-4 win over Tacoma at Foss HS. Brennen Hancock led BC’s hitting onslaught with three hits and three RBI’s. The ‘dogs pounded out 15 hits in the win and jumped up 9-2 early to coast to the win.

On Monday March 20, Bellevue jumped ahead 3-0 over visiting Tacoma in the final game of the weekend series under the lights at Courter Field. Tacoma would then stun Bellevue with 12 runs in the next two innings to take a commanding 12-3 lead. BC would then rally back to make it 12-10 before Bellevue’s pitchers ran out of gas, giving up four more Tacoma runs in the final innings. Bellevue offense played heroically with solid hits from 1-9 in the lineup. Mason Cerrillo and Michael Carter both had two hits and three RBI’s to lead the offense which put up another 10 hits combined with the 15 they had the day before against Tacoma.  The 16-12 Tacoma win was a marathon 3 hour 25 minute game that included 28 runs, 21 hits, 5 errors, and 23 walks by pitchers on both staffs. Bellevue’s pitchers suffered the worst, giving up 17 walks in the game; a record-high this season which ultimately cost them the decision in the slugfest game.

Bellevue has another four-game set this weekend as they play a doubleheader at Mt. Tahoma HS on Saturday March 25, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. first pitch against Pierce followed by a 1:00 p.m. game against Mount Hood (OR). Bellevue defeated Mount Hood in last year’s NWAC Tournament, eliminating the Saints winning in the final inning on an error.  BC will then square off again against Tacoma on Sunday March 26. The doubleheader will be at Foss HS with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
