Bellevue College softball got back onto a hot streak this past weekend as the Bulldogs won all both doubleheaders. On Friday April 21, Bellevue topped Pierce by scores of 15-7 and 3-2. On Saturday April 22, BC cruised past Shoreline 12-1 and 11-3. Both doubleheaders were make-ups from previously rained out dates.

On Friday, Bellevue won the first game with ease as Bellevue put up three runs in the first and had all 15 runs by the fourth inning. The hitting spree was led by winning pitcher as well, Payton Gibbs, who went 3-for-3 with 7 RBI’s and Cierra Barkis who went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI’s. Michelle Fusco had 3 hits as well. Right fielder Jolene House had a double and had 3 RBI’s. In game two, BC got a bit of a scare as Pierce had the tying run on second base in the final inning before Gibbs was able to retire the side. Gibbs struck out 12 in the complete game win in the circle. After jumping on Pierce’s starting pitcher in game one, BC tacked on 3 runs in the first inning in game two off the same pitcher. The Bulldog hitters were somehow stymied by the Pierce pitcher for the remainder of the game, going scoreless for the next six innings. The strong pitching of Gibbs enabled BC to sneak away with the win.

On Saturday, Bellevue won 12-1 in game one at Bellevue HS. The game, which lasted only five innings due the run limit rule, featured strong hitting from Barkis (2-for-4, 4 RBI) and Fusco (3-for-3, 3 runs scored) again. Sophomore Bri Attwood also put up numbers with a 3-for-4 outing with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. In game two, Bellevue put up 20 hits in the 11-3 win. Kimber Tutt went all 6 innings in the circle with 8 strikeouts for the win. Seven BC hitters had multiple hits, as Attwood went a perfect 4-for-4.

Bellevue is now 12-8 in league and 22-10 overall. Bellevue is slated to face second place Edmonds this Wednesday April 26. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. at Robinswood Park in Bellevue.
