BULLDOG MEN FALL TO WALLA WALLA IN NWAACC SOCCER PLAYOFFS

The 2007 soccer season came to a difficult end for the BCC Men’s Soccer team, as they fell by a score of 4-0 to the second ranked Warriors of Walla Walla Community College on Wednesday, November 7.  The Bulldogs had no answer for the powerful WWCC attack, which included a pair of goals from Rocky Snyder, the NWAACC’s fourth leading goal scorer.  BCC finished the 2007 season with a 9-5-3 overall record.

The loss brings to a close an up-and-down season for the young Bulldogs soccer team.  First year coach Adam Fenster put together a roster high in talent, but low in experience, as keeper Claudio Lazar (Paris, France) was the only returnee from the 2006 Bulldogs team that advanced to the NWAACC Championship Game.  At times, the 2007 Bulldogs showed an ability to compete with the upper-echelon of NWAACC soccer teams, playing neck-and-neck with title contenders Highline and Clark.  At other times, they showed their inexperience, suffering difficult losses in matches they could have won. 

From the turbulence of the 2007 season rises the possibility of an exciting 2008.  Freshman Vinni Oliveira, from nearby Sammamish High School, sparkled in his first season, leading the team with 13 goals.  He headlines a stellar group of freshman who, as sophomores next year, should offer the promise of a bright future for BCC Men’s Soccer.
