BELLEVUE COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER LOOKS TO START NEW ERA
TheBellevue College Men's Soccer have officially kicked of their 2013 campaign as they stepped into a two-a-day training today with a 28-person roster.
The new-look Bulldogs with new head coach Andrew Croft are looking to bounce back after a rough 2012 season, where Bellevue only won two conference games.
"The skill level is great with the core we have coming back," said Croft, who took over in December of 2012. "We have some very skilled players that we can build around and we have some new talent that can play immediately and challenge some of the returners for their starting spots.
"The competition is high and that is what we want. We know we are better than last year's record, but we need to see the results on the field. High numbers will allow for high competition, ultimately making everyone on this squad better."
Starting with 50 people at tryouts, Croft cut the roster down to 28 people, but that will not be the final number. Bellevue will look to make some final cuts before conference play starts on September 11.
Bellevue is returning two all NWAACC 2nd team players in forwards David Lovas and Bryan Forbes. Center back Alex Kramer anchors a strong defense that will help the Bulldogs build on their one shutout in 2012.
Bellevue is bringing in some great local talent as well, which is highlighted with first-year forward Kody Clearman. Clearman played for Eastside FC, a team that won two Washington state youth soccer championships and placed third at US Youth Soccer Nationals. He also was a member of the Mount Si High School team that won the KingCo 3A championship and was a first team all-KingCo member.
Bellevue will start their season on Tuesday, November 27 in the NWAACC Friendlies against Skagit Valley College at 8:30 a.m. at Starfire Sports.
