WOMEN'S TENNIS:
CHAMPIONS! TENNIS WINS FOURTH NWAACC TITLE IN A ROW; CHAPMAN COACH OF THE YEAR BCC Head Coach Jason Chapman is the only person affiliated with women's tennis program who was there when "the streak" began, but at the NWAACC Tennis Championships in Spokane May 16-17, his players assured that it would continue. "The Streak", of course, refers to Bellevue's unprecedented run of wins, which has stretched on for four years culminating in 49th consecutive win, and a fourth consecutive NWAACC title. Bellevue sophomore Courtney Groszhans led the charge in singles play, as Bellevue took the championship in three of six singles events, led by Groszhans at the number two position , and bolstered by wins from Rika Matsumoto and Lauren Heino. For Groszhans, the victory was the capstone to a perfect career at Bellevue: in two seasons of singles, she never lost a match. Ciara Schultz and Groszhans were defeated in number one doubles competition, and Matsumoto and Heino also fell in number three doubles, but the points the earned allowed Bellevue (120 points) to outdistance second place Skagit Valley College (87 points) and take home the title. For the fourth time in as many seasons, Chapman was named the NWAACC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.
