BCC ANNOUNCES 2008-09 RECRUITING CLASS
July 16, 2008

Brent Hermanson
BCC Women's Basketball Head Coach Brent Hermanson has announced the 2008-09 recruiting class.

In spite of having a new head coach for the second time in as many seasons, the BCC Women's Basketball program will look to continue building upon their recent ascent to the ranks of the NWAACC elite. New head coach Brent Hermanson has announced the recruiting class for the 2008-09 season, and he believes that this talented group of newcomers will join a trio of returners to cement BCC's status as a perennial contender in the NWAACC's Northern Region.

Headlining the class are 6'0' forward Glenda Holmes  and 5'7 point guard Phyllea Francis from Franklin High School. Holmes is versatile forward who has improved immensely since her days as a standout at Ingraham High School where she averaged 12.2 points per game. Francis who has already shown herself to be a leader on and off the court and Hermanson and his staff are looking forward to seeing her continued deveopment at Bellevue.

The Bulldog backcourt will also receive a boost with the signing of five players who can play anywhere from the point to wing positions. Three athletic guards, Tiffany Shen, Sheronda (Ronnie) Palmer and Brittany Nabors should all be able to contribute versatility and talent .

Shen joins BCC from Kentridge High School where she was the second leading scorer on her team, averaging 8.0 points per game. She brings to Bellevue great size (5'8) for a combo guard, and an ability to play and guard a variety of positions.

BCC is also very excited to be bringing in Brittany Nabors from Rainer Beach High School, where she averaged 18.2 points per game as a senior. Her scoring average was one of the highest in all of the 3A basketball in the Seattle area.

A teammate of Nabor's, Ronnie Palmer is yet another high energy player who will suit up for the Bulldogs in 2008-09. Her tireless work eithic and competitive edge allowed her to average 13.6 points per game last year for the Vikings, and will serve her well in her career at BCC.

Cassie Landdeck, Aleesha Dodd and Riquia Jackson-Cloy will round out the new perimeter players for Bellevue.

Landdeck hails from Issaquah High School where she helped the perennially successful Eagles to one of their best seasons ever. Dodd showed good range and the ability to consistently knock down the "3" in her career at Juanita High School in Kirkland, and the coaches are looking forward to her continued progression at BCC. Jackson-Cloy brings a high energy and never-quit attitude, sharpened from her days at Kent Meridian High School.

The Bulldogs' front line will be strongly fortified by
Amy Rochowiak, a 5'11post post from Tahoma High School. Rochowiak showed a knack for getting the ball in the hoop from inside, as evidenced by her respectable 12.3 points per game scoring average from her senior year.

The new signees will join returning Bulldogs Amanda Harms, Kaneshia Brooks and Ashanii Jenkins.

Harms, who red shirted last year do to a knee injury, will have her chance to return to competition for BCC. A sharpshooter with great range, the BCC coaches are excited about the opportunity to have Harms on the court. "Having Amanda back from last years injury is going to be a huge help,"' says assistant coach Dan Toblin.

Brooks, a point guard from last year's NWAACC playoff team brings great experience to the young team. She will help guide the younger players, and should provide stability as they find their footing in the competitive Northern region..

Jenkins has a phenomenal upside which was on display often during her freshman campaign. In her first year she shot over 50% from the field and turned in one of the finest individual performances in recent years with a 33 point 16 rebound night against Tacoma CC in the preseason.

With a solid combination of incoming talent and returning experience, the Bulldogs Women's Basketball team should have the tools to once again contend for a spot at the NWAACC Championships in 2008-09.
