Bellevue Metropolitan Area

The Bellevue Metropolitan Area consists of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Newcastle, Redmond, and Sammamish.

History

Bellevue was founded in 1869 by William Meydenbauer and incorporated as a city in 1953. The first school opened in 1883 with Calanthia Burrowsasth as the first teacher. The telephone was introduced to Bellevue on December 28,1916. The first highway reached Bellevue in 1919. Now, Bellevue ranks as the fifth largest city in Washington state.

Communities

The communities that make up the Bellevue Metropolitan Area include: Bridle Trails, Crossroads, Cougar Ridge, Eastgate, Factoria, Newport, Northeast Bellevue, West Bellevue, Somerset, and Woodridge/Wilburton.

  • 10 - 15 minutes to Downtown Seattle.
  • 20 minutes to SEATAC International Airport.
  • 3 Hours to Vancouver, BC, Canada.
