Join us as we do the 18 gentle movements of Shibashi Taiji Qigong ("chee-gung") set to relaxing music. We will focus on getting out of our ever-chattering minds and into a calm awareness of our bodies and a deep sense of well-being. The movements are easy to follow and although they are designed to be done standing up, they can be done sitting down. Qigong in Chinese means "cultivation of one's vital energy or life force." While there are thousands of Qigong systems, this class focuses on a particular system named for the number of movements (shibashi) and because some of the movements strongly resemble movements in Yang-style taiji (tai chi). The instructor, Barbara Brachtl, blogs about Qigong at Link to someone else's site.
