TELOS - The Lives of Others: Marriage in the Movies

Representations of married life have featured since the beginning of cinema. Each generation has its preferred form. We will follow the evolution of several themes noting the variations in emphasis and the never-ending "battle of the sexes." We will be restricted to English-speaking productions, both dramatic and comedic. Our personal experiences will be admissible commentary when relevant to the subject matter at hand. Remember, "It's only a movie!" Or is it? Terry Swaine has been holding his Friday-afternoon-at-the-movies classes, with discussion based on his encyclopedic knowledge of the great performers and directors, for over 15 years; bring your own popcorn.
