As an occupational therapist for a dozen years in K–12 school districts in Longmont, CO, and Issaquah, WA, Marci created and implemented two innovative transition programs focused on increasing community and workplace independence for young adults with disabilities. In 2008, Marci brought this experience to OLS at Bellevue College as its program manager. OLS at Bellevue College is an innovative, 90-credit associate degree program focused on self-support. The program gives adults with cognitive disabilities the opportunity to acquire an accredited college degree that prepares them for employment. During her tenure as program manager and now as director, Marci has brought an unwavering commitment to solidifying the program’s student-centered approach, giving students opportunities to serve their communities, and encouraging them to become contributing citizens and lifelong learners.
