Graphic Design Certificate Program: Overview

The program is separated into four series of classes that build on each other:

  • Design Foundations Series: concepts and foundations needed as a Graphic or Visual Designer
  • Visual Designer Series: Hands-on skills with tools needed for visual design
  • Design Portfolio Series: application of skills and concepts to create portfolio pieces
  • Capstone Series: culmination of all the series to create a complete portfolio and how to brand your business as a Graphic Designer

For planning your classes:

1.     Design Foundations Series and Visual Designer Series classes can be taken simultaneously and in any order.
2.     Portfolio Design Series classes are to be taken after successful completion of Design Foundations Series and Visual Designer Series.
3.     Graphic Design Capstone – with completion of all Series classes and approval from Program Manager.
4.     It is also recommended that you have an understanding of MS Windows prior to taking the specific graphic design computer courses.
