As a skilled trainer certified in both business analysis and project management, Vicki James has a passion for explaining how best practices and tools can make life easier and workplaces more productive. She first brought that passion to the Continuing Ed classroom in her Fall 2013 course on MS Project for Project Managers. This quarter, she will begin teaching two courses in her favorite subject — business analysis.
In her teaching, Vicki draws on 11 years of staff experience with the Washington State Office of Financial Management. And since leaving government service in 2010, she has consulted for both government and private firms such as Microsoft.
Vicki was certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute in 2005. And to make herself more marketable as a consultant, Vicki became a Certified Business Analysis Professional in 2010 thanks to the International Institute of Business Analysis, whose Seattle chapter she currently serves as president.
Despite her extensive project management experience, Vicki prefers business analysis. “Business analysis has greater potential to affect positive change when done with expertise and when management, stakeholders, and sponsors respect that expertise,” Vicki explained.
