Level 1 language classes are a great way to start speaking a new language. Lessons are lively, interactive, and easy to fit into your schedule — classes generally meet once a week for 8–10 weeks. Beginning language classes include conversational lessons for travelers, which focus on pronunciation basics and essential travel expressions.
Beginning classes in some languages are only offered in the Fall quarter. These languages include Arabic, Dutch, Hawaiian, Farsi (Persian), and Scottish Gaelic. So if you’re interested in learning one of these languages, see our Fall course listings, and be sure to register early.
The World Languages Institute offers the deepest selection of language classes in the Pacific Northwest. The college teaches dozens of day, evening, and weekend classes in French, Italian, and Spanish. Advanced classes are taught in many languages, including Japanese and Italian. Instructors are usually native speakers and have extensive teaching experience.
