FAQ's about CEO
Will I immediately start working towards my degree?
No. CEO students begin their college career by
taking CEO introductory courses. These introductory
courses are classes offered through BCC, that are designed
to prepare you for the college-level classes.
Remember, college classes are tougher than high school, and
we want you to succeed.
How long will I take CEO classes?
You will be enrolled in CEO classes (CEO I, CEO 2, CEO 3,
and CEO 4)
your first 4 quarters, or until you successfully complete
them. During CEO 2, CEO 3, and CEO 4, you may be
enrolled in additional classes such as English or beginning
level classes for your degree program.
When do CEO classes meet?
CEO I (your first quarter) meets Monday through Thursday,
and you have 3 options to choose from. This is a 10
credit class, and you must commit yourself to one time for
the entire quarter.
- Morning: 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Afternoon: 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Evening: 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
CEO 2, CEO 3, and CEO 4 class times and dates change each
quarter. You will want to make sure that you have a
flexible schedule outside of school to incorporate this
change.
Please keep in mind that these schedules are subject
to change.
What will be covered in the CEO classes?
All CEO classes will focus on the tools that are
needed for college success. During CEO 1 you will learn:
- Career exploration and planning
- Resources available on the BCC campus
- Test taking skills and time management
- Life skills
- Critical thinking and decision making
- Community involvement and civic responsibility
- Career skills, resume building, and interviewing tips
- Fundamental computer skills
- Effective communication skills
Is CEO different from high school?
Yes! CEO provides students with a second chance at
their education, in a college environment. Both the
attendance and behavior expectations are high and we expect
our students to be mature and motivated.
Will I get my high school diploma or GED while
enrolled in CEO?
No. CEO is designed to provide students with an
opportunity to work towards a college certificate or AA
degree from Bellevue Community College in a select
professional-technical program. Students who wish to
complete the GED may enroll in the GED program at the
college, but need to understand it is not a part of the CEO
program.
What types of programs can I get my certificate or
degree in?
CEO students work towards certificates or degrees in one
of the many professional-technical programs offered at BCC.
These degrees are designed to prepare you to enter the
workforce. Check out the
options!
