As an instructor, I design my courses (frequently Composition I and Technical Writing) to teach composition and rhetorical skills that students can use to make a positive impact on their communities. I believe that the ways we write and read reflect the spaces in which we live, and therefore my classes are designed to make students take account of these spaces (and the people who live in them) as they hone their skills as writers, readers, and community members.
I hold a Ph.D. in English (with a focus on Cultural Rhetorics and Queer Studies) from Texas A&M University and an M.A. in English from Illinois State University. I grew up in the Inland Northwest, so it’s nice to be closer to home.
