Moving Content from Blackboard VISTA
to a MyBCC site

What you will be doing is moving, or downloading, the files your class uses during the first week of class from the VISTA server to your own computer. You will then move, or upload, them to the MyBCC site for your class.

Please note: Only files in certain formats will function in the MyBCC environment, notably .html files, Word files and image files. Quizzes, exams, assignments that are formatted for Vista's assignment tool will not carry forward. Also note that discussion structures will need to be recreated for the MyBCC environment...you can copy and paste text, but entire files will not move.

STEP ONE: Identify and download the content to be moved.

  1. In Build mode, go to your File Manager.

  2. Locate the files used by your course during the first week.
  3. Once you know a file is one you wish to use, use the same drop-down menu to select "Download".

  4. The file will be downloaded to a specified location when you select "save" on a Windows computer. On a Mac, the file will be saved to your desktop.

  5. IF the file is an HTML file that contains images, you will need to download the images in a separate step. Follow the instructions above to do so. The "paths" to the images will need to be reconstructed in the myBCC environment, but assistance for this will be available.

STEP TWO: Upload your content to MyBCC

  1. A wealth of support documents on how to work with the MyBCC site (including movies that illustrate how to do things) exist at http://mybcc.net/training. Here you can learn how to post and organize documents, create discussion boards, even create an assignment drop box. Do note that, at the current time, the suite of MyBCC site tools does not include a secured assessment tool (only a survey device), no grade book and no onboard email.

  2. To access your MyBCC class sites, log onto http://mybcc.net and then click on the "My Classes" tab. Your user name is your complete BCC email address, your password is your current BCC password.
