Some Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is competency based learning?
A: Competency based learning is unique in that it measures your course completion by what you have learned; you show your competency in the subject matter, rather than how much seat time you have put into a course. The time you spend in each course, learning the material, is up to YOU.
Q: How is a CBO course structured different than other online courses?
A: Students participate in a self-paced, online course with the support of a student navigator and the course instructor. Students will complete a pre-test to identify their strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to fast forward through course topics that they understand well. Once proved competent in all course topics, students receive credit and can move on; instructor permission required.
Q: Who can enroll in the CBO program?
A: Eligible students are those who demonstrate readiness to succeed in college-level, online courses. This program is geared toward independent, highly-motivated students with a desire to master business software applications and gain basic website development experience.

A: The course instructor supports you with the course content.
