Biography:

Nan Ma received her Ph.D. from the Department of English at the University of California, Riverside (UCR).  Her research and teaching interests include Rhetoric and Composition, modern and contemporary American literature, ethnic American literature, and Asian American Literary and Cultural Studies.  Prior to joining the Bellevue College community, she has taught at UCR, Grinnell College, Nanjing University, where she received a merit award for teaching excellence.   Her scholarly work has appeared in Translation Review and the anthology Mothers Who Deliver: Feminist Interventions in Public and Interpersonal Discourse. She also has an abiding interest in creative writing.  Her creative essays in Chinese have appeared in World Journal and other Chinese language newspapers.  She is the abstract editor of Contemporary Foreign Literature, a scholarly journal published by Nanjing University.  She has also been a contributing book reviewer for the International Examiner, a newspaper based in the greater Seattle area.
