Job Summary: Under general supervision, provides primary technical assistance to the Cardiology Department through the Non-Invasive Lab, providing necessary support to the physicians within established guidelines. Facilitates a smooth work and patient flow. We are an accredited Echo laboratory by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

Schedule: to be determined, averaging 40 hours per week

Note: We provide assistance for Continuing Medical Education!

Education:
• Minimum: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Credentials:
• Minimum: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (through the American Heart Association).
• Preferred: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the appropriate specialties.
Experience:
• Preferred: Minimum of two years of cardiac scanning experience with adult patients preferred.

KSAs: Must have the ability to perform and understand M-Mode, Two-Dimensional, Pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, and Color flow imaging procedure on all patient. Ability to complete Echo exams and Stress echocardiography on adult patient utilizing the current technology preferred.

This position requires an individual to correlate the ultrasound images and prepare a preliminary report that will be used to manage patient care. Must make clinical judgments of the patient’s condition based on information obtained from the referring physician, medical records, Patient interview and personal assessment. Performs a variety of modalities that require independent judgment, initiative and responsibility relative to the patient’s and technical needs. In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and physical principles as related to diagnostic echocardiography is required. The position may require a good understanding and working knowledge of congenital heart disease in the adult patient.

Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in operating echocardiography equipment. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
