This concentration is designed to further educate nuclear medicine technologists and raise their educational level to a bachelor’s degree. The degree includes general education; courses in nuclear cardiology and positron emission tomography (PET); courses in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); and courses in accreditation, information and image management, and leadership. Clinical practice in PET and CT are included.
The 180-credit nuclear medicine concentration is comprised of 65 credits earned through achievement of national certification as a nuclear medicine technologist; 25 credits for satisfactory completion of general education requirements; and 90 credits earned through the program and concentration requirements. The majority of these latter courses are at the 300- and 400-level.
The program receives ongoing review and guidance from the advisory committees for both the BAS degree and the nuclear medicine technology AA degree. Students desiring to enter the nuclear medicine concentration will be advised by Jennifer Prekeges (firstname.lastname@example.org), program chair of the nuclear medicine technology program at Bellevue College, in addition to the program chair and program manager for the BAS degree.
